This multi-function I2C device includes a MCP23017 configured for 8-Channels of Open Collector Output (Up to 100ma per Channel) and 8-Bit General Purpose Programmable Input and Outputs. Open Collector outputs can be used to directly control mechanical relays or other low-power devices. On-Board LEDs indicate the On/Off status of each Open Collector output.
This device also includes a ADS7828 8-channel analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with 12-bit resolution per channel. This device contains a sample-and-hold amplifier that captures and locks the analog signal value at a constant level for a specific period of time.
The ADS7828 also features an internal, asynchronous circuit--meaning it does not follow a clock signal and the state of the circuit changes as soon as the input changes. The device has a 50kHz sampling rate and its I2C interface supports standard, fast, and high speed modes.
On-Board address jumpers allow you to define the start address range of each I2C chip. Up to 4 ADS7828 chips are supported per I2C port and up to 8 MCP23017 chips are supported per I2C port.
All analog and digital Inputs are designed for 5V operation (higher voltages will damage the on-board chip set).
May be powered by the I2C bus or powered externally (jumper-selectable).
This is a general purpose I²C device compatible with all computing platforms and IoT technologies, including Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, Arduino, Particle, BridgeX5, and many more. All ControlEverything.com devices support a strict +5V I²C Bus standard.
