Description

The UX USB Interface Adapter provides USB and XBee connectivity to PE Series controllers. The UX adapter is nearly identical to our BRIDGEX5 controller, only condensed into a tiny form-factor, adding USB or XBee communications to our complete line of IoT Motherboards. The UX controller is designed to mount as a virtual COM port on your PC, making communications to our complete product line easy and fast. Use our I2C software to quickly demo our complete line of devices and sensors with a full user interface on your Windows computer.

The UX Interface Adapter includes an on-board USB interface, making connection to a PC quick and easy. Also included is an on-board XBee interface, compatible with Digi.com series 802.15.4 and S3B Long-Range wireless mesh interface modules.*

The UX Interface Adapter is powered by a custom programmed PIC18F46K22 CPU. The firmware in this CPU was developed over the course of 2 years as part of another project that began in 2012. Consequently, we believe you will find the UX is the most advanced Serial to I2C bridge controller in the world. The XBee interface port of the UX adapter contains extensive firmware to directly communicate using 802.15.4 Industrial Point-to-Point wireless. In 2015, additional firmware was added to handle native API communications for S3B Wireless Mesh Networking (www.Digi.com), allowing data to hop wirelessly from device to device until it reaches the intended destination. The end result is a controller that has been intensively engineered for the purposes of adapting to some of the world’s best industrial communication protocols, giving you an upgrade path for more demanding applications in the future. We have reviewed all available serial to I2C converter chips manufactured by other companies before developing the UX. Quite frankly, there is NOTHING on the market easier to use or more powerful than the UX interface.


The UX adapter is compatible with 100% of all I2C chips we have tested. The I2C port on the UX adapter is emulated in firmware, and are therefore limited to a fixed 100 KHz operating frequency. The UX includes a USB Cable and header extension for easy connectivity to any IoT Motherboards controllers on our store. 

Compatibility:

This device will add USB Connectivity to the following devices.  The wireless option will be supported by our software in the future.

Optionally, the XBee interface may be populated with a USB, RS-232, or Ethernet interface adapter from National Control Devices (www.controlanything.com). The AnyI2C software framework is fully open-source, so developers are welcome to contribute their own code to add support for I2C chips not currently in our library.
